About me

Sam Shiyi Qian is a curator and writer based in Shanghai. Her recent curatorial and writing projects focus on experimental viewpoints of environment as a medium to reflect on infrastructure, geopolitics, and speculative thinking. As the curator of Ming contemporary Art Museum (McaM), she has curated artist Hu Yinping’s first solo exhibition “Weaving Realities”(2022), “Back to Stage: McaM 5th Anniversary Exhibition & Performance Festival”(2021-2022) and group exhibition “Participation Mystique” (2020). In 2023, she initiates “Yangtze River Waterways: An Interdisciplinary Artistic Research Project” and co-curates with Iris Long on a group exhibition “Postscript of Silence”, presenting a speculative process to exmaine operational/instrumentalised knowledge from the metaphor and departure of hearing.
